Classes
These classes meet weekly for 45 minutes. This course teaches varying rhythms and tempos, spatial awareness, grace of movement and introduces the child to Ballet, the foundation of all forms of dance.
This 55 minute class is intended as an introduction to ballet and tap dancing. The ballet segment includes center floor work, progressions, and choreography, teaching the fundamentals of ballet. The tap segment includes basic foot movements, rudimentary traveling steps and choreographed routines.
Note: These students will perform one routine in the recital, subject to their teacher's choice. Only one costume is required for the recital.
This 55 minute class is intended as an introduction to ballet and jazz dancing. The ballet segment includes center floor work, progressions, and choreography, teaching the fundamentals of ballet. The jazz segment combines center floor isolations, progressions, and choreographed combinations.
In this 55 minute class students will learn the floor work of gymnastics including forward & backward rolls, handstand forward rolls, back bend & recover, front limber, cartwheels, back walk-overs, back chest-rolls, back handsprings, back tucks, and more.
Ballet classes are for ages 7 & up. The length of the class time and hours taken per week are dependant on age and level of study. This course include barre work, center floor work and progressions, with a strong emphasis on proper dance technique.
The Cecchetti Method of Ballet is taught at Doreen's Dance Center. Miss Ali, the primary ballet teacher, has passed her teaching certificate one, and her Associates Level teaching exam within the Cecchetti Method. The Cecchetti Method is creates a solid foundation for ballet dancers & emphasizes placement and technique. Students have the option to take exams to further enhance their ballet study. In order to prepare for Pointe Class, dancers must be at least 12 years old, with a minimum of 2 years of current, serious, ballet training. For the safety of the student, the ballet instructor & the managing director will determine if a student is ready to go up on pointe shoes. Pointe Class is taken in addition to a weekly Ballet Class.
Tap classes meet for 55 minutes weekly. Style, rhythm, and stong technique are emphasized for all levels. Classes consist of a warm-up, center floor work, across the floor combinations, & choreographed routines. Both Broadway Style and Rhythm Tap are taught.
Jazz classes meet weekly for 55 minutes. This class combines warm-up exercises, floor stretches, center floor isolations, progressions and choreographed routines. Style, rhythm, and dance technique are emphasized.
Contemporary Lyrical Classes are for students 9 & up with some current full hour ballet and/or jazz experience. This type of dance combines the technique of ballet with jazz movements and uses dance to portray a story. Classes include warm-up exercises, floor stretches, center floor technique, progrssions, and a choreographed routine.
Modern classes are for students ages 9 & up with some current full hour ballet and/or jazz experience. This class meets weekly for 55 minutes. This class combines warm-up exercises, floor stretches, center floor isolations, progressions and a choreographed routine. Style, rhythm, and dance technique are emphasized.
Meeting weekly for 55 minutes, these pop culture classes are filled with aerobic energy and the latest M.T.V. moves. Classes combine a warm-up, center floor technique, break dancing, & choreographed routines.

Belly Dance Classes are for ages 13-Adult. This class meets weekly for an hour. This type of dance is taught using the Arabic form of Middle Eastern dance. Belly Dance class combines warm-up exercises, center floor isolations, drills/progressions, and a choreographed routine. Veils are incorporated into the classroom and offer an additional level of progressive learning. Individual style is promoted along with technique.
Private lessons are intended to solidify technique taught in class & are offered in all disciplines. Students may choose to take a private lesson to catch up on technique or to improve in a discipline.
Students may also choose to take a private lesson so that they may perform a solo, duo, or trio in the end of the year recital. Students wishing to do this are required to take a weekly class in the same discipline in addition to their weekly private lesson. Anyone is welcome to do a private lesson & are done on a first come, first serve basis. The managing director will have final decision on the number and dance discipline of the private student groupings.

Dance Company:
Our award-winning dancers are enrolled in our pre-professional training program. They compete in regional and national talent competitions. Membership is by invitation only upon the recommendation of the teaching staff. Students are required to take weekly classes in ballet, technique, tap, jazz, & choreography.
Acrobatics Company:
Our award-winning acrobats are enrolled in our acrobatics training program. They compete in regional talent competitions. Membership is by invitation only upon the recommendation of the teaching staff. Students are required to take weekly classes in acro, ballet or technique, & choreography.
This session runs from September through the end of May or beginning of June. There are between 32-35 weeks of lessons. This session finishes with an annual recital held at a local high school auditorium (currently RHAM High School in Hebron).

Dance Attire-Females
Preschool, Combination and Ballet Classes-Solid black leotard, any sleeve length & light pink tights
Hip Hop, Jazz, Modern, & Tap Classes-Any color leotard & tights. Dance pants or dance shorts may be added.
Lyrical & Contemporary-Any color leotard & tights with a dance skirt. No pants or shorts allowed.
Acrobatics-Any color leotard and footless or stirrup tights.
Dance Attire-Males
All Classes-White t-shirt and black shorts, sweatpants or dance pants. For shoe requirements, see director
Dance Shoes-Please consult the studio staff for your particular classes shoe requirements.

Holidays/Vacations-
A studio calendar will be provided upon enrollment. Please consult it to see when we will be closed for vacations. Our vacation week may not always be the week your school has vacation.
Inclement Weather-
If we have to close due to inclement weather, please consult http://www.wfsb.com, http://www.wtnh.com, this website, or our facebook page.
If a student is absent he/she may take a makeup class of the same or lower level within two weeks of the missed class. Makeup classes will count towards student's perfect attendance award.
Payment for the fall session is done in four installments. (Payments can also be set up on a monthly basis upon request.)
Due dates for the four installments are the first class in
September, November, January, & March.
(If withdrawing at any time, you are only charged for classes taken and are not responsible for payment of the entire year's tuition)
There is a $25 registration fee for the fall session, due at the time of registration. Returning students registering early (by the end of dress rehearsal) will receive a discount on their registration fee.
There are multi class discounts for students taking more than one class or multiple family members taking classes.
Any student whose account is over 30 days past due will not be allowed to participate in class until account is brought up-to-date.
Tuition Rates:
Trial Class: $15 (will be applied to tuition upon registration)
All Pre-Ballet & 1 hour classes: $442 per year, payable in four installments of
$110.50
All 1 hour & 15 minute classes: $553 per year, payable in four installments of
$138.25. Per person, not available for family discount.
Pointe Class (1/2 hour) - Must be evaluated and have prior approval of instructor
prior to registering for pointe: $263 per year, payable in four installments of
$65.75. Per person, not available for family discount.
2nd class, same person or another person in the same household: $410 per
year, payable in four installments of $102.50
3rd or more class(es), same person or other persons in the same
household:
$378 per year, payable in four installments of $94.50
Multiple Class Discount: Any student taking more than six (6) weekly classes
will pay nothing for additional classes. This is per student, and not per family.
Excludes private lessons, pointe, and Zumba.
All students enrolled in the fall session participate in our annual recital held at the end of the session. Students are required to purchase a costume for each class they are in. The deposit for the costume is due no later than November 15th. Costumes are ordered from major theatrical supply houses and are cut to fit each individual dancer. Therefore, no refund can be made on costumes. Costumes will be ordered over the Thanksgiving Holiday break in order to be here in time for picture day. Balances for the costumes are due by the end of January. No costumes will be distributed until paid for in full & tuition is current.
Picture Day is usally held on a Sunday in late March or early April. Please consult the studio calendar for the exact date. All students may come to have their group class photo & individual photo done in their recital costume. Each class will be given a special time at which to arrive for their class. There is a minimal sitting fee to be in the class photo, which covers the cost of the group photos to be printed in the recital program. Photos will be available for viewing during the Dress Rehearsal & may be purchased at that time. Please see photo day packet for more information.
There are 2 shows performed of the same recital. The classes that will perform in only one show are Pre-Ballet, Combination, & Private Lessons.
Tickets are sold for the recital performances. Recital tickets may not be purchased until your entire tuition account is paid in full. No one other than performers and backstage crew will be allowed inside without a ticket.
Recital times are 11:00 am & 5:00 pm, with dancers needing to arrive 1 hour prior to showtime. Shows average about 3 hours in length, including one 15 minute intermission. Please see the recital information packet for more details.
