





Esther Erickson (Teacher)
Miss Essie is a graduate of Naugatuck Valley Community College with an
Associate’s Degree in Fine Arts and certificate of Dance. She was lifelong
resident of Bristol, Connecticut, until moving to Middletown, CT in 2007. Essie
has been dancing since the age of five, and competing in dance since the age
of nine. As an adult, Essie was chosen to perform with Earl Mosley’s Diversity in
Dance Professional Modern Company. She participated in the USA World
Showcase televised talent competition and was awarded 1st Place in the Adult
Dance category. Essie taught dance for competitive companies and, most
notably, received the Choreographer of the Year award representing the state
of Connecticut for the American Dance Awards competition. She was also
crowned Olympic Miss Dance of Ct in 2003. In addition to teaching
professionally for the past 9 years, she has also provided dance instruction and
choreography for numerous studios, pageants, showcases and performances.
She has been recognized by the Miss America Association for her opening
number choreography.
In 2007, Essie joined the esteemed faculty of Doreen’s Dance Center as a
member of their core faculty. Miss Essie teaches tap, jazz, lyrical, technique jazz
and acrobatics. She also choreographs for the Doreen's Dance Center
Company students. She looks forward to the opportunity to share her love for
dance with you!

Kristin James (Teacher)
Miss Kristin has been teaching at Doreen’s Dance Center since
1997. She was previously a member of the teaching staff at Ona-
May’s School of Dance in Danbury, CT. This is also where Kristin
received her dance training from the age of 5 to adulthood. She
spent a summer at the Center for Creative Youth at Wesleyan
University, and another summer performing in summer stock musical
theatre at the Richter Park Playhouse. She continues her training
through master classes and teacher workshops. Kristin teaches
ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical to students of all ages. Her extensive
experience and training in the field of education makes her
especially well suited to teaching our young dance students.
Kristin received her BS-ED from Central Connecticut State
University with certification in Special Education. She has
experience working with students with special needs, including,
learning disabilities, ADHD, Autism spectrum disorders, intellectual
disabilities, and social/emotional disabilities. Kristin also spent 8
years running a family daycare in her home while her family was
growing. It is a joy for her to use her teaching talents to enrich
children’s lives with the blessings of dance.
